Emily is an installation artist and academic currently based in Montreal. She often explores the spatial arrangement of mass-produced materials, condensing recognizable commodities into heaps, blobs, hybrid objects or displays until their cultural values and use value collide. For her exhibition "Night Shift" at AceArt in 2010, she received a one ton shipment of used household items from a local junk removal company, and over three weeks, transformed it into an allegorical scene in which a fleet of exercise equipment - skis on scaffolds, sleds on plinths, and an exercise bike - haul away a group of "trashblob" sculptures.
