Traute Klein was born with a compulsion to create. She has doodled her way through life, drawing everything around her since she was a preschooler. She is always eager to experiment. More than producing art, she loves teaching it. Since her retirement, she has confined her teaching to occasional workshops on art, natural remedies, or organic gardening on request.

Currently, Traute is producing art in watercolor, oil, acrylic, multimedia, pottery, soapstone, and weaving but she mainly sells her acrylic and oil paintings and her silk screened greeting cards. The prices for the handmade greeting cards start at $1 a card.

Traute’s favourite painting themes are mountain landscapes in any season, day or night, dawn or dusk. She also paints flowers and symbolic religious paintings. She will produce a custom painting on request in any size either from photographs, and/or to match the color scheme of a house. Acrylics can be ready in a few days whereas custom oil paintings take several months to dry. Prices range from $25 to $300 for a ready-to-hang painting. A framed miniature 5x7 with matching frame is $25 (7x9 framed). The $300 paintings are 18x24. All sizes are given in inches.
