hannah_g


hannah_g is an artist living and working in Winnipeg. She left Bristol, England in order to take up the programming position at aceartinc in September 2008.  Prior to this she was a core member of The Cube Microplex, an ARC in Bristol. Here she programmed live events, film, exhibitions, and a micro festival called Toronto-A-Go-Go! as well as projected 35mm film. She has worked for the Venn music and art festival, the Ledbury Poetry Festival and QuJunctions amongst other cultural organizations. Hannah is a socially committed artist primarily concerned with engendering enchantment in everyday life via storytelling and intervening in public space.

Sidewalk Constellations

Joining up the gumspots in urban centres to create faux constellations, Hannah then makes up stories about them using conversations she has with people she meets while chalking on the street. After performing she leaves CDs around the places the constellations were created.

The Ribbon Project

During the first week of October this project faciltates international ribbon tying, a specific colour being designated for each day. It's a means to quietly celebrate or highlight areas of a city that you love or hate.

The Tallest Poppy Artist Residency

The Tallest Poppy Residency is a small, simple program. Artists spend two days (10am-2.30pm) in the restaurant making and/or doing a project of their choice. He/she’ll be left to his/her own devices in between being fed delicious food. This residency is open to everyone.
